In another incident, a youth was killed in police custody in IoK’s Tral area of District Pulwama.
According to KMS, Mushtaq Ahmad Chopan was killed in a ‘staged’ grenade blast inside the Tral police station. The police maintained that the grenade attack was targeting the police station however, the locals refuted that claim and insisted that Chopan was killed in police custody. They said police blasted the grenade to portray it as an attack on police station.
Chopan was arrested along with two others on January 9 in Sopore.
Massive clashes between protesters and Indian forces erupted in Tral following the killing of the Kashmiri youth. A complete shutdown was observed in the area.
